Information for passengers travelling to and from Bangkok
Due to protesters occupying the international airport in Bangkok, the airport has been temporarily closed since 21.00 h local time on 25th November. Currently it is not possible to operate flights to and from Bangkok.The flights operated by Air Berlin’s subsidiary LTU have been cancelled until 5th December 2008 inclusive.
Furthermore Air Berlin would like to ask all passengers in Bangkok with a return flight up to and including 05.12.2008 to contact Air Berlin by telephoning 001 800 12 0666375 toll-free (from Thailand).
Air Berlin has already deployed four planes to bring back passengers from Bangkok by flying them from Utapao (south of Pattaya) to Germany. This also involved Air Berlin arranging buses to take passengers from Bangkok to Utapao.
Air Berlin is planning a further return flight from Utapao to Germany on 2nd December, 3rd December and 4th December. Air Berlin passengers will need a confirmed new flight booking for these special flights. The regular return flights from Bangkok to Düsseldorf until 5th December inclusive are no longer valid. Air Berlin would like to ask all passengers in Bangkok with a regular return flight up to and including 5th December who have not yet contacted Air Berlin to get in touch with the airline by telephoning 001 800 12 0666375 toll-free (from Thailand).
Air Berlin is looking after the passengers affected by this event locally and is keeping them informed of any further developments. The airline is keeping a close watch on the situation in Thailand and is offering passengers due to travel to and from Bangkok its full support.
We will keep you updated here about the situation at Bangkok airport. We would advise passengers currently in Bangkok to avoid travelling to Suvarnabhumi international airport in Bangkok for the time being. Direct flights to Phuket are still operating as normal.
